We capture a radiometric field, not a false-colour picture. Each pixel holds an absolute reading you can threshold, log and compare against the last survey.

Stereo depth resolves the geometry the thermal field was measured against, so a hotspot comes back as a coordinate on your asset rather than a smudge in a report.
